Shane's Fishing Tips
Partially thaw package of herring. Mix 1/3 cup of Super Herring Brine (either Natural or Blue) with a quart of distilled water. Chill water and add herring, let sit overnight in refrigerator and ready for fishing!
Gut & Slit
With the tip of your knife, remove cuts and entrails of herring and cut a small slit behind the pectoral fin. This allows water to pass through the bait and provide a tight roll.
Plug Cut Herring
Using a mitre box similar to the one shown, cut the head of the herring off just behind the gill plate at an angle.
